30+ years in Advertising and brand management, working for BAT Kenya Limited, responsible for three international advertising agencies for above line advertising and with other suppliers for below the line services and materials. 3 years of Product management: Working for Colgate Palmolive East Africa Limited, conducting market research, product design, promotion etc, better summarised as total business profitability for the body care category. 5 Years in Marketing portfolio lead and management for Beiersdorf (BDF) East Africa Limited covering Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda and Tanzania, reporting to Hamburg, Germany for strategic approvals and to the local managing director. 6 Years of Marketing Communication sale and Services: Designing and implementing communication strategies with a skew to marketing-brand building and advertising for various clients in the East African region, for DDB-CCL as head of Client Services, experiencing challenges and exposure and how to help Kenyan enterprises grow, working on Unga farm care division, Bidco Oil, Twiga, Marshalls and Mabati rolling mills amongst others, in their formative years. Departure to self-employment running a two pronged undertaking of family farm outfit real estate and marketing consultancy services.

Acquired hands on experience in small scale enterprise both as a player and in my studies where the Entrepreneurship MA project titled “Factors affecting the growth of micro and small dairy enterprises in Nairobi “ was truly an eye opener”. Emma has governance experience as Chair of Finance and administration subcommittee at Ruiru-Juja water and sewerage company, among other community positions.
